This is a question we get asked often. And our answer is simple. If you are desiring lasting impacts from your microdosing journey, we suggest you commit to microdosing mushrooms for a minimum of 3 months.
Of course, to truly experience lasting results, it takes more than just popping some “magic” pill (more on that below)...
The More You Put In The More You Will Get Out!
“I’m anxious… Like really anxious. Everyday is a struggle, and I don’t know what to do. I’m willing to do whatever it takes…”
These are the words of someone who is desperate and suffering… Like many people, they turned to microdosing mushrooms as a last resort in the hopes to resolve their long standing anxiety…
I do not like seeing people in this situation, however at the same time when a person reaches this point of desperation, I get a flutter of excitement in my heart… Because this can be a blessing in disguise!
I know you probably think I sound like a psychopath, but let me explain in one word…
Necessity.
Necessity is the mother of invention. When someone reaches total desperation, their level of necessity also reaches all time highs… The situation can become like life or death…
And then something magical happens… The “survivor” mode kicks in. The keyword here is survivor not survival!
There is a “survivor” that lives in each and every one of us, and when activated, it will do whatever it takes to overcome the challenge that is “activating” it.
So my advice to this person is simple…
Commit to 3 months of microdosing… But don’t expect microdosing to be a magical pill that fixes your life… I don’t want to mislead you. Expect that this microdose will be like rocket fuel in your old honda civic…
It is going to boost your process of healing, growth and transformation in a very significant way.
Microdosing Is Like Rocket Fuel…
When I first began microdosing mushrooms, something amazing happened… The colors around me became more vivid, I felt a deeper connection to nature, and in general I was just more present…
But it gets even better…
I became far more aware of myself… I found that it was significantly easier to become the witness to my experiences… Which means I was able to take a step back from my emotions, thoughts, patterns and beliefs, and observe them from a neutral place…
From this place of neutrality is where the real magic happens. I could then begin consciously changing my habits, patterns and reactions over a period of time…
Why 3 Months Is The Magic Number…
Self awareness is like a super power. The lines between your conscious and unconscious mind are thinning and you are able to live from your True Self, beyond your conditioned beliefs, patterns and constructs…
But when you first start microdosing, it takes time to hone this self awareness…
Slowly your unconscious mind will reveal itself to you, and you will begin to identify your limiting beliefs, emotional patterns and other unconscious behaviors and influences. So if you start off your journey with the intention of transforming your anxiety, it will likely take 2-4 weeks to begin digging into your unconscious programming and to shine light into those dark places…
To put it simply, it takes 2-4 weeks to start identifying the root causes of your issue…
For example, a microdoser becomes aware that their anxiety is rooted in a belief and emotional pattern that they are “not good enough”, and thus their confidence is low… They are constantly worried about what others may think of them… And so they are always on high alert (and anxious)... Up until microdosing, they were totally unaware of this…
Now we have something we can really work with!
In Order To Heal, You Need To Create New and Healthier Habits…
So for lack of a better word, let’s refer to these unconscious parts of yourself as habits… I mean whatever they are, whether traumas, beliefs, conditionings or whatever it is you are struggling with… They are “habituated” ways of being… And you are ready to change them.
Well, it takes at least 30 days to create (and break) a habit… Sometimes longer… There are many layers you will continue to uncover on (and off) of your microdoses…
So there are going to be many habits to break and create as you progress on your healing journey… Like we talked about, healing is a garden… A beautiful ongoing process…
And remember…
This is a marathon not a sprint!
Committing to be in a microdosing container for 3 months opens a process of healing, where you can…
Become aware of unconscious “habits”
Break and create new and healthier “habits”
Integrate these new habits into daily life
And do you want to know the coolest part…?
After 3 months of microdosing, this entire process becomes a habit!
That’s right. Your day-to-day life now becomes a process of gardening… So rather than spending your days stuck in anxiety or depression…
Your days become a continual process of embodying, creating and living the life of your dreams!
I Know, You're Probably Thinking... “That Is WAY Too Much Work…”
I know what you’re probably thinking…
“That sounds like a LOT of work”
“I don’t have time for that”
“I’m way too (depressed, anxious,_________) to do that”
“I don’t have the energy for this…”
Well first of all, start small. Start with one intention. Start by breaking just one habit and creating one new healthier habit (way of being)...
And second of all… Just imagine how much time and energy goes into managing your current state of being… Daily suffering takes a tremendous amount of time and energy… As you free this energy up, you will have more and more of it to “tend to your inner garden”.
Keep your eyes on the prize and just take it one step at a time.
The embodiment of your True Self and your true transformation is an ongoing process, like tending a garden… So plant one flower at a time…
Now Let’s Talk About Some Microdosing Basics….
How Often Should You Microdose Mushrooms?
There is an ongoing debate on this subject… But one thing we can all agree on, is that you need to take at least 2 days off a week to avoid building a tolerance to psilocybin!
I suggest people do the “5 days on, 2 days off” protocol… This means in a 7 day week, you will choose 5 days to microdose, and you will choose 2 days where you will not consume any psilocybin.
Generally people will consume one microdose in the morning on an empty stomach, however others like to take a second in the afternoon or early evening.
Other popular microdosing protocols include…
4 days on, 3 days off
Microdosing twice a week
Microdosing once every 3rd day
3 days on, 4 days off
You can also choose any combination that feels best for you.
Whatever protocol you choose, I recommend you stick to this schedule for your first 3 months! This means choose a protocol that resonates and stick with it! This gives you a container, routine and structure to work with so new habits and healing can be fully integrated…
When people choose to microdose randomly or intuitively during this first 3 month period, they often lose track of days and will forget to take their microdose… Sometimes for weeks at a time… This can halt the progress and it is easier to fall into old negative patterns…
After 3 months, it is good to take a 1-2 week break to rest, integrate and decrease any tolerance you may have built. After this period, you will be well adjusted and accustomed to the medicine, and some people choose to take a more intuitive approach to scheduling…
What Is The Best Dose?
This will vary depending on each individual…
I always recommend people start with 100mg on an empty stomach. If you don’t feel a strong enough effect, increase your dose by 50mg the next day… Keep increasing until you reach the desired effects…
If 100mg is too strong, simply decrease your dose to 50mg, or alternatively you can try taking your microdose with a light meal…
How Strong Should The Effects Be?
In terms of strength, a microdosing should be noticeable, but very subtle.
You should not experience any hallucinogenic effects, and you should be able to perform any regular daily tasks…
That being said, the most common immediate effects are:
Colors, sounds and sensations are more vivid
Increased self awareness
Decrease in anxiety, depression and other mental health complaints
Deeper connection to nature and self
Enhanced creativity
A sense of inner balance and peace
Getting The MOST Out Of Your Microdoses…
To get the most out of your microdosing journey, we recommend the following…
Daily journaling
A meditation or spiritual practice that takes you inward, especially after you take your microdose (Minimum of 20 minutes daily)
Regular breathwork, or other somatic practice to move emotions and stuck energies
Working with a therapist or practitioner
Spending intentional time outdoors, especially while microdosing
